Red Dog was the 1st Eng. Prick Ear Ch. and the 3rd recorded Am.Champion, bred in 1933 by owner Mrs. W. E. West.. He achieved his title in 1937 with 5 CC's. He was the first prick ear champion of record and a direct descendant of Roughrider Jones Terriers. He was recorded as a singleton puppy with no full siblings, 2 half siblings on his sire's side and no half siblings on his dam's side. He himself produced 32 litters for a total of 61 offspring, most of the bitches producing what was recorded as singleton litters. He was bred 3 tines to Nell Copperfield, producing what was recorded as singleton puppies in each of those 3 litters; 3 times to Jinitt for a total of 5 progeny; 5 times to Judy for a total of 9 get; 5 times to Jill for a total of 9 puppies. He was bred once to Eng. Ch. Tinker Bell to produce a litter of 4. Seven of his get were shown at Westminster in 1938. He was the grandsire of the first dog and bitch prick ear Champions Rachel and Victor owned by Mrs. A.C. Randolph of Upperville, VA. Red Dog carried the black and tan gene and DROP EARS of this color are his decendants. Of note is that Red Dog also earned a Certificate of Gameness from the Master of Foxhounds and won the dog C.C. at Crufts in 1936 the day after going to earth on fox with the Pytchley Pack. "Red Dog proved the old adage that “Handsome is as handsome does” by not only becoming a Champion but also gaining his M.F.H. certificate for bolting foxes." He was an influential sire of both ear types.
